Tekken 8 recently added a battle pass which locks new content behind a paywall, despite the base game retailing at $69.99 with a $30 season pass. It immediately proved controversial, dragging the Steam score down to 'mixed', and things have only gotten worse in the weeks since as it now sits at an even lower 'mostly negative'. "I was happy at first. Then I was disappointed, betrayed, and sad. Fighting games are going the way of [Call of Duty], it seems. Unfortunately, Tekken 8 wants to be the Modern Warfare business model of the genre," one reviewer writes.
